Homemade Protein Bars

If you’ve ever looked at the price of a box of protein bars and thought, “I could probably make these myself,” you’re not alone. I love Aloha bars, but with the cost adding up fast, I decided to see if I could recreate that same clean, protein-packed snack at home, without sacrificing taste or quality.

After a few batches, I landed on a version my family loves just as much (if not more) than the store-bought kind. They’re naturally sweetened, easy to customize, and cost a fraction of what you’d pay for a box of bars.

Ingredients You’ll Need

1½ cups rolled oats

1 cup pitted dates (soaked in warm water for 10 mins)

½ cup almonds

½ cup peanut butter

¼ cup maple syrup

2 scoops protein powder (vanilla or chocolate)

2 tbsp cocoa powder

1 tbsp chia seeds

2 tbsp hemp seeds

¼ cup chocolate chips

How to Make Them

1. Soften your dates by soaking them in warm water. This makes them easier to blend and adds natural sweetness.

2. Blend the base: In a food processor, combine dates, peanut butter, and maple syrup until smooth and sticky.

3. Add your dry team: Toss in oats, chopped almonds, cocoa powder, protein powder, hemp and chia seeds. Blend until you get a dense, malleable mixture. Bonus points if you leave some almond chunks for crunch.

4. Chocolate chip magic: Stir in your chips for that sweet treat hit.

5. Form your bars: Press the mix firmly into a parchment-lined 8×8 pan.

6. Chill for at least 1 hour. Fridge or freezer works great.

7. Slice, store, snack! Keep them chilled in an airtight container for up to a week. They also freeze beautifully.
